‘Sharpener’. The lamp made from wood shavings.

This video is a good example to explain the methods used by Nanako Kume to develop her products. The lamp is made from the wood shavings of an ultra large pencil sharpener, designed and developed by the designer. The process is long as the wood has to be softened, then painted to resemble pencil shavings, then finally it’s shaven.

The product is never the same. It’s unique, it’s sharp!

Finding a good product name to attract the customer and talk about the process or the values used in the making of the product is never easy.

The name Sharpener is short and sweet and works well. (It says what it does on the tin).
